Bronze Age copper & tin ingot artefacts recovered earlier this year, by SWMAG team members, from the Salcombe ‘B’ / Moor Sand site are now on display in the upper gallery of ‘Plymouth City Museum & Art Gallery. We are supporting the museum as part of their ‘Festival of British Archaeology 2010’ events.
The new display will be on until early September 2010.
Visitors should also visit the new archaeology gallery ‘Uncovered’ exhibition where there is another case containing a wonderful display of Bronze Age artefacts found by the team in previous years.
These artefacts include, palstave axeheads, rapier, gold torcs & jewellery and the enigmatic bronze ‘strumento con immanicatura a cannone’ from Sicily. All of these items are part of the British Museums out-reach program.
The museum displays of SWMAG artefacts show how well regarded the team is within the field of archaeology.
